Pacific Coast Highway Roadtrip: From San Francisco to Los Angeles

Day 1

Our Pacific Coast Highway was a spontaneous decision. We were encouraged by Kuya Bobet and Ate May to try it since we have unlimited time to travel. We had to squeeze it in for 2 days, though it was not full stops but we can say that it’s one of those good decisions that we ever made. Technically we came from Pittsburg not San Francisco, but let’s just think of it as a nearby location. We started our trip almost lunch time so we did not have much time to go around on Day 1.

Monterey

17 Mile Drive Restrooms are only located in certain areas; there is a $10 entrance fee

Carmel by the Sea (Free 30min parking around)

Bixby Bridge / Big Sur Coast (No Restroom / No Food Area)

Gorda Whale Watcher’s Inn (Food Area / Gas Station / Lodging) -We ended day 1 here at Gorda.

Day 2

We continued driving again around 7am. Do take note that starting Bixby Bridge, there will be no cellphone service signal at all. It only came back at San Simeon Elephant Seals Vista Point. Whale Watcher’s Inn did have wifi but it was not that great. I was able to message my parents about our whereabouts, but uploading photos online is really hopeless.

San Simeon Elephant Seals (No Restroom Stop /No Food)

Hearst Castle

Expect here to stay around 2 hours. Since the time of the tour would be around that time. And, be sure to catch the bus or you have to stay and wait for the next batch to come down. (There is Restroom, Wifi and Food Station.  25$ / person for every tour. We also spent lunch here, food is a bit touristy expensive here)

San Luis Obispo - Bubble Gum Alley and Novo (with parking meters)

Pismo Beach

This is a surfer’s paradise and there were lots of dogs playing with their humans.  (Free Parking / Restaurant Areas / Restrooms).

Solvang

(Free Parking / Restroom / Food Area) We decided to end our trip here. Supposedly we wanted to end it at Malibu but we did not want to brave the rush hour traffic.

  1. I'm really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A handful of my blog readers have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any advice to help fix this issue? facebook login in
